2008 World Series
Baseball Betting - Tampa Bay Rays Vs.
Phillies Odds
The Rays dropped
the "Devil" from their name before the season and came out with
a new identity: Gone were the laughable losers who finished last
in the AL East in nine of their first 10 seasons.
Last season they had the worst record in all of baseball. Going
into this season, oddsmakers gave the Rays 200-1
odds to win the
World Series.
Most fans
thought it was inevitable that the high-priced Boston Red
Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers would meet in the 2008 World
Series. No doubt, TV executives were praying for it, since
both teams have huge fan bases bound that would bring in big
ratings.
To the surprise of baseball insiders, the exact opposite
happened. The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 3-1 in
the seventh and deciding game of the AL Championship series.
The Tampa Bay Rays are on a roll after taking out the
defending world champions while the Philadelphia Phillies
beat Manny Ramirez, a Los Angeles Dodgers team that barely
won one of the weakest divisions in baseball. |

The Rays have some
unbelievable young talent that plays the game every fan would
like their team to play.
The Phillies are a pretty good team, too. Let's not forget that
the Phillies have been building to this for a few years now.
It's not like the Phillies are a NL team that just happened to
get hot at the end of the season and streak their way to the
World Series.
the Phillies are is a team that plays well together. They have a
knack to get things done and then leave everyone who watched it
wondering "how did that happen?" They have an ability to draw
important at-bats and important innings from the least likely
places. They play as a team, which always seems to be one of the
characteristics of the great teams.
